La mémoire comme forme de résistance : un hommage
L’hommage se présente sous forme d’une exposition de portraits d’activistes du monde entier qui ne sont plus parmi nous qui ont lutté pour les droits des femmes et la justice sociale.
En 2020, nous adoptons une démarche légèrement différente
Cette année, tout en continuant à convoquer la mémoire de celleux qui ne sont plus parmi nous, nous souhaitons célébrer leur héritage et souligner les manières par lesquelles leur travail continue à avoir un impact sur nos réalités vécues aujourd’hui.
49 nouveaux portraits de féministes et de défenseur·e·s viennent compléter la gallerie. Bien que de nombreuses des personnes que nous honorons dans cet hommage sont décédé·e·s du fait de leur âge ou de la maladie, beaucoup trop d’entre iels ont été tué·e·s à cause de leur travail et de qui iels étaient.
Les histoires des activistes à l'honneur dans cet Hommage font vivre leur héritage et continuent d'inspirer le travail et l’action de nos mouvements.

Les portraits de l'édition 2020 ont été illustrés par Louisa Bertman, artiste et animatrice qui a reçu plusieurs prix.
L’AWID tient à remercier nos membres, les familles, les organisations et les partenaires qui ont contribué à cette commémoration. Nous nous engageons auprès d’elleux à poursuivre le travail remarquable de ces féministes et défenseur·e·s et nous ne ménagerons aucun effort pour que justice soit faite dans les cas qui demeurent impunis.

L'Hommage a été inauguré en 2012
Le premier hommage aux défenseur-e-s des droits humains a pris la forme d’une exposition de portraits et de biographies de féministes et d’activistes disparu·e·s lors du 12e Forum international de l’AWID en Turquie. Il se présente maintenant comme une gallerie en ligne, mise à jour chaque année.
Depuis, 467 féministes et défenseur-e-s des droits humains ont été mis·es à l'honneur.

2002: comienzan las conversaciones acerca de una agenda de Financiación para el Desarrollo
La Conferencia de Monterrey sobre la Financiación para el Desarrollo marcó el comienzo de las conversaciones acerca de una agenda de Financiación para el Desarrollo.
- El Consenso de Monterrey fue adoptado durante la primera Conferencia Internacional sobre la Financiación para el Desarrollo. Fue la primera reunión organizada por la ONU con nivel de cumbre para abordar aspectos esenciales del desarrollo global, entre ellos los temas financieros y otros conexos.
- Durante la Conferencia y sus procesos preparatorios se dio una cooperación sin precedentes entre las Naciones Unidas y el Banco Mundial (BM), el Fondo Monetario Internacional (FMI) y la Organización Mundial del Comercio (OMC) para promover mayor coherencia y cohesión entre los sistemas e instituciones monetarias, comerciales y financieras internacionales.
- Monterrey también marcó la primera ocasión en que se debatió la financiación para el desarrollo entre gobiernos, representantes de la sociedad civil y el sector empresarial. Estos actores llevaron la discusión más allá de lo ‘técnico’ para abordar cómo movilizar y canalizar recursos financieros a fin de alcanzar las metas internacionalmente convenidas en conferencias y cumbres de la ONU celebradas en la década de 1990, entre ellas los Objetivos de Desarrollo del Milenio (ODM).
- El WWG [Grupo de Mujeres] señaló el significado histórico de la conferencia, afirmando que tenía el potencial de abordar desafíos estructurales que continúan obstaculizando el desarrollo. Sin embargo, también planteó sus preocupaciones por los efectos del incremento de la militarización y del fundamentalismo sobre las mujeres, pese a que el Consenso de Monterrey dio por sentado que el sistema económico y financiero mundial funcionaba bien para todas las personas.

A one-of-a-kind convening, the Forum brings together feminist, women’s rights, gender justice, LBTQI+ and allied movements, in all our diversity and humanity, to connect, heal and thrive. The Forum is a place where Global South feminists and historically marginalized communities take center stage, strategizing with each other and allied movements, funders and policy-makers, in order to shift power, make alliances, and usher in a different, better world.
When people come together on a global scale, as individuals and movements, we generate a sweeping force. Join us in Bangkok, Thailand in 2024. Come dance, sing, dream and rise with us.

2009: l´ONU organise une conférence sur l´impact de la crise économique
La Conférence des Nations Unies de 2009 sur la crise financière et économique mondiale et son incidence sur le développement
- La conférence de 2009 était l’aboutissement de celle de Doha en 2008. La Déclaration de Doha avait mandaté les Nations Unies pour organiser, sous l’égide du Président de l’Assemblée générale, une conférence consacrée à la crise financière et économique mondiale et à son incidence sur le développement.
- Pendant la conférence, les groupes de femmes, par le biais du WWG ont souligné l’impact de la crise financière mondiale sur les groupes les plus vulnérables. Dans sa déclaration aux membres (en anglais), le WWG a proposé une liste d’actions nécessaires que les États membres devraient mettre en œuvre pour pallier aux conséquences de la crise sur les femmes. Le groupe de travail a également déclaré que la prise en compte des autres groupes sociaux touchés par la crise était essentielle pour apporter une réponse qui soit en accord avec les normes et les engagements internationaux relatifs à l’égalité des genres, aux droits des femmes, aux droits humains et à l’autonomisation.

The Forum theme––Rising Together––is an invitation to engage with our whole selves, to connect with each other in focused, caring and brave ways, so that we can feel the heartbeat of global movements and rise together to meet the challenges of these times.
Feminist, women’s rights, gender justice, LBTQI+ and allied movements around the world are at a critical juncture, facing a powerful backlash on previously-won rights and freedoms. Recent years have brought the rapid rise of authoritarianisms, the violent repression of civil society and criminalization of women and gender-diverse human rights defenders, escalating war and conflict in many parts of our world, the continued perpetuation of economic injustices, and the intersecting health, ecological and climate crises.
Our movements are reeling and, at the same time, seeking to build and maintain the strength and fortitude required for the work ahead. We can't do this work alone, in our silos. Connection and healing are essential to transforming persistent power imbalances and fault lines within our own movements. We must work and strategize in interconnected ways, so that we can thrive together. The AWID Forum fosters that vital ingredient of interconnectedness in the staying power, growth and transformative influence of feminist organizing globally.

Sexting Like a Feminist: Humor in the Digital Feminist Revolution
On September 2nd, 2021, the amazing feminist and social justice activists of AWID’s Crear | Résister | Transform festival came together not only to share resistance strategies, co-create, and transform the world, but also to talk dirty on Twitter.
The exercise was led by Nana Darkoa Sekyiamah, co-founder of the blog Adventures From The Bedrooms of African Women and author of The Sex Lives of African Women, who paired up with the Pan-Africanist digital queer womanist platform AfroFemHub, to ask the question: How can we safely and consensually explore our pleasure, desires, and fantasies via text?
Basically: How would a feminist sext?
I believe this is a critically important question because it looks at the larger issue of how one navigates the online world with a feminist understanding. Under capitalism, discourse around bodies and sex can be dehumanizing and distorting, and navigating sexual pleasure in virtual spaces can feel performative. So seeking out avenues where we can explore how we share our desire in ways that are affirming and enthusiastic can push back against dominant models of presentation and consumption to reclaim these spaces as sites for authentic engagement, proving that all sexting should be just that: feminist.
Plus, allowing feminist discourse to embody its playful side in online discourse helps reframe a popular narrative that feminist engagement is joyless and dour. But as we know, having fun is part of our politics, and an inherent part of what it means to be feminist.
Using the hashtag #SextLikeAFeminist, scholars and activists from all over the world chimed in with their thirstiest feminist tweets, and here are my top ten.
As these tweets show, it turns out that sexting like a feminist is sexy, funny – and horny. Yet, it never loses sight of its commitment to equity and justice.

- During the opening session, the WWG on FfD called for dedicated resources for gender equality and women’s empowerment as stated in both the Monterrey Consensus and Doha Declaration,to be added into the Zero draft.

What you need to know
- Priority will be given to activities that facilitate and encourage connection and interaction among participants. If your activity can be held online or hybrid (connecting participants on-site and online), please consider how to generate genuine engagement and active participation from online participants.
- We encourage cross-movement, cross-regional and inter-generational encounters, dialogues and exchanges.
- Please design your activity in a way that allows flexibility in the number of participants. While a few activities may be limited to smaller groups, the majority will need to accommodate larger numbers.
- If your activity fits a number of formats or none, you will be able to indicate as such on the application form.
Languages in which you can submit your activity
- Languages for Applications: Applications will be accepted in English, French, Spanish, Thai and Arabic.
- Languages at the Forum: Simultaneous interpretation will be provided at the Forum Plenary Sessions in English, French, Spanish, Thai, and Arabic as well as ISL (International Sign Language) and possibly more. For all other activities, interpretation will be offered in some––but not all––of these languages, and possibly others, such as Swahili and Portuguese.

¿Qué es el Proceso de la Financiación para el Desarrollo de Naciones Unidas?
El proceso de la Financiación para el Desarrollo (FpD) de Naciones Unidas (ONU) se propone abordar distintas formas de financiación y cooperación para el desarrollo. Según lo acordado en el Consenso de Monterrey, se centra en seis áreas prioritarias:
- Movilización de recursos financieros nacionales para el desarrollo;
- Movilización de recursos internacionales para el desarrollo: la inversión extranjera directa y otras corrientes de capitales privados;
- El comercio internacional como promotor del desarrollo;
- Aumento de la cooperación financiera y técnica internacional para el desarrollo;
- La deuda externa;
- Tratamiento de cuestiones sistémicas: fomento de la coherencia y la cohesión de los sistemas monetarios, financieros y comerciales internacionales en apoyo al desarrollo.
