Foro de AWID: Co-creando futuros feministas
En septiembre de 2016, 1800 feministas y activistas por los derechos de las mujeres de todos los rincones de nuestros movimientos se congregaron en las costas de Bahia, en el 13º Foro Internacional de AWID.
En esta sección se destacan los logros, los aprendizajes y los recursos que surgieron de las ricas conversaciones mantenidas. Te invitamos a analizar, compartir y comentar.
¿Qué ha pasado desde 2016?
Uno de los aportes más importantes del Foro fue la necesidad de ampliar y profundizar nuestro trabajo entre movimientos, frente a la confluencia de los fascismos en auge, fundamentalismos, codicia corporativa y cambio climático.
Con esto en mente, AWID, en asociación con múltiples aliadxs, ha estado trabajando para que estas semillas de resistencia:

Nuestras Iniciativas Semilla han ayudado a 20 ideas que surgieron en el Foro para crecer en forma de acciones concretas

El vídeo «Defendiendo a las Personas y al Planeta» y la guía «Tejiendo la resistencia a través de la acción» estan protagonizados por defensoras de derechos humanos y presentan estrategias concretas para confrontar al poder corporativo

Con nuestras animaciones El estado de nuestros movimientos feministas y Justicia climática y ambiental, los movimientos ahora tienen herramientas creativas para apoyar su trabajo.

La compilación de las expresiones artísticas «Los Movimientos Importan», sigue inspirando una organización más fuerte y creativa en todo el mundo.

Los movimientos también pueden beneficiarse de nuevas metodologías para imaginar nuestros futuros feministas (¡pronto!)
AWID se ha comprometido, mediante su próximo plan estratégico y su proceso del Foro, a continuar y profundizar las relaciones, las lecciones y los procesos iniciados en el Foro 2016 y basándonos en el momento actual.
¿Que pasa ahora?
El mundo es un lugar muy diferente de lo que era un año atrás, y seguirá cambiando en los próximos años.
El próximo Foro de AWID se realizará en la región del Pacífico Asiático (el lugar y la fecha exactos serán anunciados en 2018). Esperamos que te unas a nosotrxs.

Sobre el Foro de AWID
Los Foros de AWID comenzaron en 1983 en Washington DC. Desde entonces, el evento ha crecido hasta convertirse en muchas cosas para muchas personas: un proceso iterativo para darle forma a nuestros análisis, objetivos y acciones; un hito crucial que fortalece los feminismos de lxs participantes e infunde energías a sus procesos de organización; un hogar político donde lxs defensoras de derechos humanos encuentran un santuario y solidaridad.

How about climate justice, is this really the time for so many international flights?
Asking ourselves the same question, we believe there are no simple answers. For many participants the AWID Forum might be one of the few international trips they undertake in their life. The pandemic taught us the possibilities but also the limitations of virtual spaces for movement-building: there is nothing like in-person connection. Movements need cross-border connections to build our collective power in the face of the threats we face, notably the climate crisis. We believe that the upcoming AWID Forum can be a strategic space to hold these conversations and to explore alternatives to international travel. The hybrid element of the Forum is an important part of this exploration.

Ghiwa Sayegh es una anarcoescritora queer, editora independiente y archivista. Es la editora fundadora de Kohl, una revista para la investigación sobre cuerpo y género, y la cofundadora de Intersectional Knowledge Publishers. Posee una maestría en estudios de género de Université Paris 8 Vincennes, Saint-Denis. Le apasionan la teoría queer, las circulaciones transnacionales y las historias imaginadas o desconocidas. Sus influencias son Audre Lorde y Sara Ahmed.

Alejandra Morena
Biography
Alejandra se passionne pour les droits des femmes et la justice de genre. Elle rêve de créer un monde qui place le soin en son cœur, celui des personnes comme celui de la nature. Experte féministe en droits humains, elle a travaillé dans des domaines en lien avec le genre, le climat, la justice sociale et économique au sein de diverses organisations internationales. Ses domaines d’expertise comprennent le développement des connaissances et la co-création, la recherche, la facilitation et le plaidoyer. Elle est titulaire d’un master en droits humains de l’université d’Essex et a rédigé et co-élaboré de nombreuses publications, dont l’article «Enragée: Femmes et Nature». La campagne Activisme Féministe Sans Peur s’appuie sur des entretiens et des recherches menés par Alejandra.
Originaire d’Argentine, elle a vécu et travaillé dans plusieurs pays d’Europe et d’Amérique latine au cours des vingt dernières années. Alejandra aime la photographie, la mer, préparer des gâteaux avec sa fille et déguster des plats du monde entier. En tant que mère, elle met un point d’honneur à briser le cycle des schémas répétitifs transgénérationnels. Alejandra puise son énergie et son inspiration auprès des femmes extraordinaires qui font partie de sa vie, et qui vivent aux quatre coins du monde.

Welcome to the 15th International AWID Forum!
The International AWID Forum is both a global community event and a space of radical personal transformation. A one-of-a-kind convening, the Forum brings together feminist, women’s rights, gender justice, LBTQI+ and allied movements, in all our diversity and humanity, to connect, heal and thrive. The Forum is a place where Global South feminists and historically marginalized communities take center stage, strategizing with each other and social justice movements, in order to shift power, make strategic alliances, and usher in a different, better world. Chinelo Onwualu est une conseillère éditoriale ayant près de 10 ans d’expérience dans l’élaboration de communications stratégiques pour des organisations à but non lucratif du monde entier. Elle a notamment travaillé pour ActionAid Nigeria, The BBC World Trust, Open Society Initiative for West Africa (OSIWA) et l’AWID. Elle est titulaire d’un master en journalisme de l’Université de Syracuse et a travaillé comme rédactrice, éditrice et chercheuse au Nigeria, au Canada et aux États-Unis. Elle est également l’éditrice non-romanesque du magazine Anathema et cofondatrice d’Omenana, un magazine de fiction spéculative africaine. Elle est originaire du Nigeria mais vit à Toronto avec son compagnon et son enfant.

Building Feminist Economies
Building Feminist Economies is about creating a world with clean air to breath and water to drink, with meaningful labour and care for ourselves and our communities, where we can all enjoy our economic, sexual and political autonomy.
In the world we live in today, the economy continues to rely on women’s unpaid and undervalued care work for the profit of others. The pursuit of “growth” only expands extractivism - a model of development based on massive extraction and exploitation of natural resources that keeps destroying people and planet while concentrating wealth in the hands of global elites. Meanwhile, access to healthcare, education, a decent wage and social security is becoming a privilege to few. This economic model sits upon white supremacy, colonialism and patriarchy.
Adopting solely a “women’s economic empowerment approach” is merely to integrate women deeper into this system. It may be a temporary means of survival. We need to plant the seeds to make another world possible while we tear down the walls of the existing one.
We believe in the ability of feminist movements to work for change with broad alliances across social movements. By amplifying feminist proposals and visions, we aim to build new paradigms of just economies.
Our approach must be interconnected and intersectional, because sexual and bodily autonomy will not be possible until each and every one of us enjoys economic rights and independence. We aim to work with those who resist and counter the global rise of the conservative right and religious fundamentalisms as no just economy is possible until we shake the foundations of the current system.
Our Actions
Our work challenges the system from within and exposes its fundamental injustices:

Advance feminist agendas: We counter corporate power and impunity for human rights abuses by working with allies to ensure that we put forward feminist, women’s rights and gender justice perspectives in policy spaces. For example, learn more about our work on the future international legally binding instrument on “transnational corporations and other business enterprises with respect to human rights” at the United Nations Human Rights Council.

Mobilize solidarity actions: We work to strengthen the links between feminist and tax justice movements, including reclaiming the public resources lost through illicit financial flows (IFFs) to ensure social and gender justice.

Build knowledge: We provide women human rights defenders (WHRDs) with strategic information vital to challenge corporate power and extractivism. We will contribute to build the knowledge about local and global financing and investment mechanisms fuelling extractivism.

Create and amplify alternatives: We engage and mobilize our members and movements in visioning feminist economies and sharing feminist knowledges, practices and agendas for economic justice.
