Human Rights Council (HRC)
The Human Rights Council (HRC) is the key intergovernmental body within the United Nations system responsible for the promotion and protection of all human rights around the globe. It holds three regular sessions a year: in March, June and September. The Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) is the secretariat for the HRC.
The HRC works by:

Debating and passing resolutions on global human rights issues and human rights situations in particular countries

Examining complaints from victims of human rights violations or activist organizations on behalf of victims of human rights violations

Appointing independent experts (known as “Special Procedures”) to review human rights violations in specific countries and examine and further global human rights issues
-
Engaging in discussions with experts and governments on human rights issues
-
Assessing the human rights records of all UN Member States every four and a half years through the Universal Periodic Review
AWID works with feminist, progressive and human rights partners to share key knowledge, convene civil society dialogues and events, and influence negotiations and outcomes of the session.
With our partners, our work will:
◾️ Monitor, track and analyze anti-rights actors, discourses and strategies and their impact on resolutions
◾️ Raise awareness of the findings of the 2017 and 2021 OURs Trends Reports.
◾️Support the work of feminist UN experts in the face of backlash and pressure
◾️Advocate for state accountability
◾️ Work with feminist movements and civil society organizations to advance rights related to gender and sexuality.

Anna Campbell (şehid Hêlîn Qerecox)
Anna grew up in Lewes, Sussex (UK) and, after deciding not to pursue her English degree at Sheffield University, she moved to Bristol and became a plumber.
She spent much of her time defending the marginalised and under-privileged, attending anti-fascist rallies, and offering support to the women of Dale Farm when they were threatened with eviction. A vegan and animal lover, she attended hunt sabotages and her name is honoured on PETA's 'Tree of Life' Memorial. Anna went to Rojava in May 2017 with a strong commitment to women's empowerment, full representation of all ethnicities and protection of the environment.
Anna died on March 15, 2018 when she was hit by a Turkish airstrike in the town of Afrin, northern Syria. Anna was fighting with the Women's Protection Forces (YPJ), when she was killed.

Lettres d’amour Aux Mouvements Féministes
Peut-être savez-vous déjà que l’AWID fête ses 40 ans en 2022. Mais saviez-vous que nous avons retenu pour thèmes « Rassembler, semer et perturber » ? Pour célébrer cette occasion comme il se doit, nous avons invité des membres, des partenaires et du personnel de l’AWID à écrire leur propre « lettre d’amour aux mouvements féministes ». Ensemble, nous avons créé une constellation de mouvements féministes. Restez près de nous alors que nous poursuivons notre chemin, pour rassembler, semer et perturber !
Une remarque sur notre collection de lettres d'amour :
Toutes ces lettres ont été écrites par des activistes qui font part de leurs expériences diverses au sein des mouvements féministes. Certaines peuvent inclure du contenu difficile ou éprouvant à propos d’abus, de violence sexuelle, de conflit, d’exclusion ou d’autres éléments potentiellement déclencheurs ou perturbants. Ces lettres sont emplies d’amour, mais restez néanmoins attentifs·ves à vos émotions lorsque vous les lirez.
Annaliza Dinopol Gallardo Capinpin
Conocida como «Ate Liza», Annaliza era la presidenta del Consejo de la Reforma Agraria para lxs Pionerxs de Mindanao, un grupo coodinador general en Tacurong City, Filipinas.
Querida madre de cuatro hijxs, maestra y líder comunitaria, Annaliza es recordada por su comunidad como «la que lidera cuando nadie quiere liderar, la que habla cuando nadie quiere hablar, la que se puso de pie con coraje para ayudar a lxs beneficiarxs de la reforma agraria a ser dueñxs de sus tierras».
Atacantes desconocidos la ultimaron a balazos en frente de la Universidad Estatal Sultán Kudarat (SKSU), mientras se dirigía a la Escuela Secundaria Nacional Salabaca, en Esperanza.
Su familia ha dicho: «Naghihintay pa rin kami ng hustisya para sa kanya» (todavía estamos esperando justicia para ella).

Riham Al-Bader
Riham était avocate et activiste engagée à suivre de près la question des violations des droits au Yémen.
Elle a travaillé avec d'autres activistes pour fournir de la nourriture et de l'eau aux civils piégés par les milices houthies dans la banlieue de la ville de Taiz.
Riham a été tuée en février 2018. La cause de son décès, soit par la main d’un tireur d'élite ou par un tir de mortier, n’a pas été confirmée. Personne n'a été tenu responsable de son meurtre.

Es un centro comunitario, donde unx puede tomar cursos y capacitarse en actividades creativas que generan ingresos como peluquería local, cocina y creación artística. Lxs niñxs también pueden disfrutar de actividades culturales y educativas.
El MSTC no trabaja solo. Colabora con instituciones y colectivos de arte para producir experiencias culturales, deportivas y educativas, junto con el acceso crítico a la atención médica. Desde su inicio, este proyecto participativo ha sido liderado y llevado a cabo principalmente por mujeres, bajo el liderazgo de la activista afro-brasileña Carmen Silva, quien alguna vez fue una persona sin hogar.
Shireen Lateef
Shireen was an inspiration to many feminists in Fiji and a powerful ally to the women’s movement. She advocated tirelessly for gender equality locally and regionally.
She began her career as a junior gender specialist at the Asian Development Bank and brought about drastic changes to the institution’s gender policies.
Her research, “Rule by the Danda: Domestic violence amongst Indo Fijians” was one of the earliest pieces of research on domestic violence, marriage and women in Fiji. This seminal work has been a catalyst for feminist work in this area.
Shireen’s legacy lives on as many remember her influence, commitment and support to the women’s movement in Fiji and the Pacific.
