AWID on behalf of the Alliance for Feminist Movements is seeking the services of a team of consultants or an organization to support the Alliance for Feminist Movements with a comprehensive review of its existing brand assets, consolidation of these assets and the creation of new assets as needed. This will include a review of the Alliance websites, newsletter, publications and public facing assets. The successful applicants will be required to provide recommendations and implement them, with the possibility for extended support on a retainer basis.
About AWID
The Association for Women’s Rights in Development (AWID) is a global feminist movement support organization. AWID’s mission is to support feminist, women’s rights and gender justice movements to thrive, to be a driving force in challenging systems of oppression, and to co-create feminist realities and alternatives.
The Alliance for Feminist Movements, currently hosted by AWID, is a collaborative multi-stakeholder initiative with members from governments, philanthropy, women's and feminist funds, civil society, and other allies. The Alliance and its members are dedicated to increasing and improving the quality of resources and political support for diverse feminist movements, agendas, and policies.
Scope and objectives of the consultancy
The Alliance for Feminist Movements, is looking for a team of consultants or an organization to support the Alliance Secretariat to thoroughly review existing Alliance branding and products, followed by the production and co-creation of a variety of visually impactful, graphically designed communication products and style guidelines in line with that style. The team will:
Phase 1: Review and Benchmarking
- Review the Alliance’s existing brand and branding assets in line with existing best practices across key players in the sector.
- Review the Alliance’s outward facing products and templates (including website, newsletter and event products).
- Consult with key Alliance stakeholders on brand perceptions.
Phase 2: Production of Guidelines and Templates
- Provide recommendations for how the Alliance brand can be strengthened and made more impactful in various spaces.
- Produce templates and designs for a variety of communication products such as a PowerPoint Deck, Newsletter Templates, Report Template etc.
Phase 3: Finalization of Recommendations and Guidelines
- Make recommendations for event branding
- Produce brand guidelines that include a consolidation of the Alliance’s current branding assets and identity.
- The consultant will be reporting to Nyasha Musandu, Communication Lead.
Expected deliverables
The group of consultants or organization will develop the following:
- Consolidated brand booklet including how and when to use certain assets. The consultant will work together with the Alliance Secretariat staff to understand how assets have been used to date then update branding assets and incorporate best practice use cases.
- Produce a newsletter template using MailChimp adaptable to English, Spanish, and French.
- Produce an editable, easy to use, visually engaging PowerPoint Master deck that can be integrated with Google Slides.
- Produce a Report Template that can be integrated with Google Docs.
- Produce social media branding asset templates, e.g., key messages, event flyers that can be integrated with Canva
- Provide other graphic design support to the Alliance as necessary
- Provide recommendations for comprehensive brand revamp and relaunch.
Proposed Timeline
The group of consultants or organization will be required to complete this work by the 21st of February 2025.
- Commencement of contract - 25th November 2024
- Completion of review and benchmarking process - 20th December 2024
- Completion of guidelines and templates - 27th January 2024
- Completion of recommendations and handover - 14th February 2025
Budget
The Alliance will consider proposals with budgets up to US $ 25,000.
Please note that selection will not be based on price only. This will be weighed up against other criteria as set out below.
Desired Profile
- The consultant(s) or organization shall demonstrate the following qualifications:
- Demonstrated experience in graphic design work.
- A track record of developing visually appealing communication products.
- Experience in development of easy-to use branding assets.
- An understanding of web design and messaging to enhance brand identity.
- Strong capacity to work in coordination and collaboration with others.
- Strong creative skills and the ability to deliver high quality and user-friendly outputs in a timely manner.
- An awareness of digital security and other risks for movements and communities facing different situations of vulnerability and persecution.
- Fluency in written and oral English. Additional experience in French and / or Spanish is an asset
- Committed to the principles and values of intersectional feminism
- An understanding of feminist movements and / or development funding is an asset.
The Consultants or organization are required to disclose any relationship that might compromise their independence and will be required to declare a conflict of interest where one exists with either AWID, the Alliance for Feminist Movements, or any part of the work.
- The primary responsibilities of the consultant are:
- Conducting the assignment in accordance with the outlined ToRs.
- Provide regular updates to Nyasha Musandu and the Secretariat team.
- Inform Nyasha Musandu of any unforeseen delay or challenges in conducting the assignment and proposing appropriate solutions in a timely manner.

Global South-based women; trans, non-binary and intersex persons; persons with disabilities and other candidates from historically oppressed groups, of all ages, are strongly encouraged to submit a proposal.
Interested consultants are requested to send the following:
- Cover letter outlining how the consultant meets the person specification, confirmation of availability in the time frame indicated.
- A proposal, not exceeding 2 pages (min. font size Arial 11), presenting the Consultant’s understanding of the assignment, outlining a proposed approach, methodology, and project plan financial proposal with detailed budget (in US dollars) with consultant’s fees, number of hours/days per activity proposed, and other (direct) costs. Selection Criteria
The award pursuant to this RfP will be based upon a panel review of the proposal and an interview with appropriate consideration given to operational, technical, cost, and management requirements, in line with AWID’s procurement guidelines.
