Human Rights Council (HRC)
The Human Rights Council (HRC) is the key intergovernmental body within the United Nations system responsible for the promotion and protection of all human rights around the globe. It holds three regular sessions a year: in March, June and September. The Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) is the secretariat for the HRC.
The HRC works by:

Debating and passing resolutions on global human rights issues and human rights situations in particular countries

Examining complaints from victims of human rights violations or activist organizations on behalf of victims of human rights violations

Appointing independent experts (known as “Special Procedures”) to review human rights violations in specific countries and examine and further global human rights issues
-
Engaging in discussions with experts and governments on human rights issues
-
Assessing the human rights records of all UN Member States every four and a half years through the Universal Periodic Review
AWID works with feminist, progressive and human rights partners to share key knowledge, convene civil society dialogues and events, and influence negotiations and outcomes of the session.
With our partners, our work will:
◾️ Monitor, track and analyze anti-rights actors, discourses and strategies and their impact on resolutions
◾️ Raise awareness of the findings of the 2017 and 2021 OURs Trends Reports.
◾️Support the work of feminist UN experts in the face of backlash and pressure
◾️Advocate for state accountability
◾️ Work with feminist movements and civil society organizations to advance rights related to gender and sexuality.

Alejandra es una apasionada de los derechos de las mujeres y la justicia de género. Sueña con crear un mundo centrado en el cuidado de las personas y de la naturaleza. Como experta feminista en derechos humanos, ha trabajado en las intersecciones de la justicia de género, climática, social y económica en varias organizaciones internacionales. Sus áreas de experticia incluyen la construcción de conocimiento y de la creación conjunta, la investigación, la facilitación y la incidencia. Tiene un título de maestría de la Universidad de Essex, y es autora y colaboradora de muchas publicaciones, que incluyen el artículo «Enraged: Women and Nature». La campaña Feminist Activism Without Fear se basa en entrevistas e investigaciones realizadas por Alejandra.
Nacida en Argentina, durante las últimas dos décadas ha vivido y trabajado en varios países de Europa y América Latina. Alejandra ama la fotografía, el mar, cocinar con su hija y disfrutar de la comida de todo el mundo. Como madre, su objetivo es cambiar los modelos y patrones establecidos. يعتبر المنتدى الدولي الخامس عشر لجمعية حقوق المرأة في التنمية حدثًا مجتمعيًا عالميًا ومساحة للتحول الشخصي الجذري. يجمع المنتدى، وهو اجتماع فريد من نوعه، الحركات النسوية وحقوق المرأة والعدالة الجندرية ومجتمع الميم عين والحركات الحليفة، بكل تنوعنا وإنسانيتنا، للتواصل والشفاء والازدهار. المنتدى هو المكان الذي تحتل فيه نسويات ونسويو الجنوب العالمي والمجتمعات المهمشة تاريخياً مركز الصدارة، حيث يضعون الاستراتيجيات مع بعضهم/ن البعض، مع الحركات الحليفة الأخرى، ومع المموّلين وصانعي السياسات بهدف تحويل السلطة، إقامة تحالفات استراتيجية، والدخول في عالم أفضل ومختلف.

Yes, we encourage institutional membership.
AWID currently has hundreds of prominent, innovative organizations working on issues related to women’s rights and development as members. Criteria for membership are the same as for individuals, although membership fees and membership benefits are different, and are geared to address the needs of our member organizations.

Les discours sur l’ « Idéologie du Genre » :
Pendant des décennies, les universitaires et défenseur·euse·s féministes ont développé d’importantes notions liées au genre afin de comprendre et combattre l’oppression et la discrimination. Ces notions sont maintenant devenues la cible d’acteur·ice·s antidroits qui prétendent que les rôles de genre patriarcaux oppressifs relèvent du « bon sens », peignant stratégiquement toutes les autres idées, normes culturelles et formes de vie sociale comme une idéologie dangereuse et conspirationniste.
