Human Rights Council (HRC)
The Human Rights Council (HRC) is the key intergovernmental body within the United Nations system responsible for the promotion and protection of all human rights around the globe. It holds three regular sessions a year: in March, June and September. The Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) is the secretariat for the HRC.
The HRC works by:

Debating and passing resolutions on global human rights issues and human rights situations in particular countries

Examining complaints from victims of human rights violations or activist organizations on behalf of victims of human rights violations

Appointing independent experts (known as “Special Procedures”) to review human rights violations in specific countries and examine and further global human rights issues
-
Engaging in discussions with experts and governments on human rights issues

Assessing the human rights records of all UN Member States every four and a half years through the Universal Periodic Review
AWID works with feminist, progressive and human rights partners to share key knowledge, convene civil society dialogues and events, and influence negotiations and outcomes of the session.
With our partners, our work will:
◾️ Monitor, track and analyze anti-rights actors, discourses and strategies and their impact on resolutions
◾️ Raise awareness of the findings of the 2017 and 2021 OURs Trends Reports.
◾️Support the work of feminist UN experts in the face of backlash and pressure
◾️Advocate for state accountability
◾️ Work with feminist movements and civil society organizations to advance rights related to gender and sexuality.

En tant que mouvements féministes et mouvements pour les droits des travailleur·euses, nous articulons en solidarité les points suivants dans le cadre d’une vision collective des économies des soins qui plaçant les travailleuses domestiques au centre
Notre manifeste est une réponse à un contexte complexe :
Le travail domestique et des soins est sur le devant de la scène depuis la pandémie de COVID-19, car il a permis à tout le monde de continuer à fonctionner pendant les crises mondiales. La Banque Mondiale, le Fond Monétaire International et autres institutions multilatérales reconnaissent également l’importance du travail des soins et domestique dans la pérennisation de l’économie. Cette attention répond cependant généralement à une approche instrumentale - dans laquelle le travail des soins soutient l’économie « productive » - centrée sur la réalisation de profits, qui ne reconnaît pas les soins comme un droit humain et un bien public et ne prend pas en compte les travailleuses qui assurent une grande partie du labeur.

Nous espérons réunir 2 500 participant.e.s en personne et 3 000 participant.e.s en ligne/hybride.
Lorsque des milliers de féministes se réunissent, nous créons une force de solidarité écrasante qui a le pouvoir de changer le monde. Nous sommes enthousiastes, et nous savons que vous l'êtes aussi, alors restez à l'écoute pour plus de détails, y compris l'inscription et nos plans pour un programme plein de magie féministe.
What happens to the activity proposals submitted through the CfA?
- Activity proposals will initially be screened by AWID staff.
- Organizers of shortlisted proposals will then be invited to participate in a voting process, to choose among the shortlisted activities. Those with the most votes will be included in the Forum program. AWID may make a few adjustments to the final selection to ensure our program has an adequate balance across regions, constituencies, issues and methodologies.
- Our Forum Content and Methodology Committee will reach out to the organizers of selected proposals to support them in further developing their activities.
We will update the outcomes of this process in the website in due time.

Our final Feminist Film Club program is now available to view: “Films from Nuestramérica” is a film series on Latin/Central American Feminist Realities curated by Alejandra Laprea (Venezuela).

What is the AWID International Forum?
Every three to four years, AWID hosts its flagship international event. It is the world’s largest event that wholeheartedly centers feminist and gender justice movements in all their diversity. It is a global gathering of feminist activists, allied movements, scholars, funders and policymakers. The Forums rotate between different regions and countries in the global South.
Do I need a visa to attend the Forum in Taipei?
You DO NOT need a visa to attend the Forum in Taipei if you hold a passport from one of the following countries (the allowed length of your stay varies from one country to another):

Elisa era coordinadora de la organización de derechos humanos Karapatan, en la Provincia de Negros Oriental de Filipinas.
También era organizadora de comunidades urbanas empobrecidas de la Provincia de Cebú, y trabajaba con Desaparecidos, una organización de familiares de personas desaparecidas.
Elisa y dos de sus colegas fueron asesinadxs el 28 de noviembre de 2017 por dos hombres no identificados en Barangay San Ramón, en la ciudad de Bayawan de la Provincia de Negros Oriental, durante una misión que investigaba presuntas violaciones de derechos territoriales en la zona.
La sobreviven cuatro hijxs.

Con una asistencia de hasta 2500 participantes presenciales y 3,000 conectadxs de manera virtual, este será el Foro de AWID más grande hasta ahora. Vislumbramos múltiples espacios para establecer conexiones significativas, aprender, intercambiar ideas, tener conversaciones estratégicas, sanar y celebrar. Es la primera vez que nos reunimos en este espacio desde la pandemia, y estamos muy deseosxs de hacerlo.
