Calls for Participation

The Institute of International Education's (IIE) Scholar Rescue Fund (SRF) is pleased to announce a call for applications from scholars facing threats to their lives or academic work. Fellowships support temporary academic positions at colleges, universities and other research institutions outside their home countries anywhere in the world.   

The objective is to empower 10,000 women entrepreneurs globally with business management skills and support services within five years in order for them to grow their businesses, increase turnover and create new jobs. The global programme will soon be drawing to a close.

Please note that the deadline to submit applications to attend the 17th session of the Universal Periodic Review and all sessions of treaty bodies taking place in Geneva between October and December 2013 is:  22 July 2013.

As part of the Link Up project, we are asking you to speak to your experiences, hopes, and vision for realizing and claiming your sexual and reproductive health and rights.

The next thematic report of the Special Rapporteur to the General Assembly in October 2013 will focus on the links between large-scale development projects and a safe and enabling environment for human rights defenders, with a particular emphasis on the challenges of the human rights based approach to development and the role of human rights defenders.  

Call for papers on the Competing Visions in the Muslim World: Rebuilding States and Re-invigorating Civil Societies, a small and selective symposium held the 15-17 August at the University of Sydney, Australia.

The Centre for Human Rights will host a conference in December 2013 to reflect on these and other innovative aspects of the Protocol, and invites papers on the following themes: Women and HIV, Access to safe abortion, Women's reproductive righst and the role of resources, women's sexual rights, and the sexual and reproductive rights of lesbian and bisexual women.
