Rio+20 - The United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development (UNCSD) took place in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil from 20-22 June 2012 marking the 20th anniversary of the 1992 United Nations Conference on Environment and Development (UNCED), in Rio de Janeiro. Several feminists, women’s rights advocates and organizations tried to influence the UN negotiations through the Women's Major Group, while others organized the Women's Global Territory at the People's Summit, a parallel forum to the official process where diverse groups of civil society movements including feminist, peasants, indigenous peoples, trade unions and environmental movements gathered from 15 to 23 June 2012.
