Calls for Participation

OHCHR's civil society section is in the process of preparing a Practical Guide for civil society on follow-up and implementation of recommendations . We feel that this could be a useful document for HRDs in various contexts, and have been working with them on the outline and outreach.

We are once again excited to be launching our 2nd call for proposals and intend to support up to 16 more young feminist groups led by young women and transgender youth under 30 years of age. Deadline for applications: March 26, 2013.

The undersigned NGOs/CSOs have engaged recently with UNFPA regarding the ICPD Beyond 2014 global survey (http://icpdbeyond2014.org/about/view/2-global-survey). This survey aimed to measure progress, gaps and outstanding issues in relation to the implementation of the ICPD Programme of Action (http://www.unfpa.org/public/home/publications/pid/1973) at the national level, and was intended to be completed with the input of civil society.  

As the dates set for fulfilment of the ICPD, Beijing and MDG agendas draw closer, the United Nations and its agencies have embarked on a process to define a “new” development agenda. The need for a new agenda is not up for debate, but what should it look like? There is widespread recognition of both the under-fulfilment and the inadequacy of the MDGs in addressing sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR). Deadline for paper submissions: May 1-31, 2013.

December 12 is a symbolic date for the 12 by 12 campaign, which is the reason why today trade unions and activists are mobilising thousands of workers in 50 countries to put pressure on decision makers and encourage governments to enact the hardly needed laws that would give domestic workers a decent work and a decent life. Join the global action day on 12-12-12!

The Feminist Review Trust helps to finance projects throughout the world which aim to tackle women's inequality. Small grants are awarded three times each year. While the Trust funds a range of projects, particularly welcome are projects relating to women and young girls with disability. Also, in the light of the growing international campaign to prioritize the issue of violence against women in the post-2015 Millennium Development Goal Agenda, the Trust would welcome projects that seek to tackle this issue.

WGSRF is now seeking proposals, in either French or English, for its annual conference, held in conjunction with the Congress of the CFHSS/FCSH. Submissions for panels, roundtables, workshops and papers can be made by groups or individuals, and as joint sessions with other associations. Posters can be proposed by individuals or groups.

The November 2013 issue of the international journal Gender & Development, (published for Oxfam GB by Routledge/Taylor and Francis) will look at Conflict and Violence from a gender justice and women’s rights perspective. Deadline for proposed idea: January 15, 2013.
