We encourage everyone who has Web access to register for the Forum online. There are 2 ways to do this:

  1. You can register and pay online, thus completing your registration and payment all in one step.

  2. You can register online first, and then complete your registration by paying afterwards through credit card, certified cheque or bank draft, or wire transfer.

If you do not have web access, you may also print out our  Registration Form (Word), fill it out and email it to forum08@awid.org.

* As an AWID member, you will be asked to login with your email address and password. If you do not have a password, or if you are not sure if you’re an AWID member, please contact membership@awid.org to clarify and update your membership status, and to have a new password assigned.

Fax, Email, or Mail Registration

If you would prefer to register by mail, please fill out the registration form below and mail it in with payment (or proof of payment in the case of wire transfers) to the AWID office in Toronto. If you would like to register by fax or email, please fax or email the registration form with a credit card number and authorization, or with proof of wire transfer if you are not paying by credit card. Please note that we cannot accept registrations without payment.

Group Registrations

For group registrations, please contact forum08@awid.org for information and instructions.

Volunteer Registration

If you would like to apply to volunteer at the forum, please download this form and return your completed application form along with a current resume to forum08@awid.org -Be sure to write Forum Volunteer Application in the email subject line. Successful Volunteer applicants will be eligible for the reduced $100 volunteer registration fee for the forum, in exchange for 8 hours of work onsite at the forum, normally in 4-hour shifts. Please note that forum volunteers, like all forum participants, are expected to pay for their trip flight as well as hotel costs in Cape Town.

Presenter's Registration

Those who are presenting in forum sessions qualify for a special presenters’ rate of $225, which recognizes presenters’ contributions to the forum. AWID will be getting in touch with all presenters about this new registration category, but in the meantime, if you have questions, direct them to Jessica Bokhout at forum08@awid.org.

South African Registration

AWID is pleased to offer 200 free registrations to South African participants, to ensure that the forum remains as accessible as possible to those living in the host country. In order to qualify for one of these free spots, South Africans are encouraged to send us an email or fax by August 10, 2008 that briefly answers the following three questions:

  1. Why do you require financial assistance?


  2. What impact will your participation in the forum have in your community/region?  Please include a description of the activities you have planned to share your forum learnings with other individuals and groups.


  3. AWID strives to host a diversity of participants from groups, sectors and locations that have historically been underrepresented in women’s movements. Is there anything you want to tell us about yourself, your work, your organization, or your session that will allow us to evaluate how your participation will make the forum a more diverse and inclusive space?

Responses must be sent by email to forum08@awid.org or by fax to +1 416 594 0330 by August 10, 2008. Please be sure to include Application for free South African Registration in the subject line.

The 200 successful applicants will be selected by a Sub-Committee of members of our International Planning Committee and contacted by the beginning of September.

Explanation of Fees

AWID recognizes that the cost of registrations is high for many participants, including participants from the host country, South Africa. To address this issue, AWID has created an "Access Fund" that will help pay for travel and accommodation of forum presenters who do not have the means to fund their own participation. In addition to the Access Fund, AWID has set aside 100 complimentary registrations for South African participants.

AWID is also working in partnership with many international, national and regional funders to request that they set aside monies for forum participants in their regions. Please note that registration fees help to cover the cost of meals and materials, as well as the costs of simultaneous interpretation, travel costs for marginalized groups, and equipment. AWID does not make a profit from Forum activities.
