WANEP: Gender Training
The African Desk of Women Peacemakers Program in collaboration with its International Secretariat in the Netherlands is organizing gender training for the leadership of their African Branches Groups and Affiliates in Accra.
The training aims helping the leadership of the African Branches Groups and Affiliates develop action plans towards implementing the IFOR gender policy in the African context.
Content of the training
- Review the basic concept of gender and gender mainstreaming, and exploring the link between gender, active nonviolence and peacebuilding;
- Joint review of IFOR’s gender policy passed at Council 2006: How does it apply to the African context; formulation of recommendations for implementation;
- Applying the IFOR Gender Policy to the work done in the Africa BGAs: What is already being done (mapping), and what could still be done?
- Development of BGA action plans for the implementation of the IFOR Gender Policy in the local context.
