AT THE TABLE is a global campaign engaging citizen voices calling for bold action on poverty, climate change and the global economy in major 2010 summits. In June, the world’s most powerful leaders will gather around two summit tables, the G8 table in Huntsville and the G20 table in Toronto. The decisions they make will affect the future of life on our planet. Let’s ensure the voices of those most affected are heard and are reflected in the decisions made at the summits.

Due to the continued conflict situation, the national gender machineries - the three ministries tasked with gender equality or women’s welfare - in the three zones of Somalia have not only been marginalized in whatever very little institutional development initiatives have been undertaken but are also missing from processes of democracy-building and the larger state building actions. The recognition of this gap by the UN agencies and the need for action to address gender inequality and women’s rights based needs forms the basis for this Request for Proposal (RFP) to carry out Gender Situation and Needs Analysis, CSO Scoping and Development of a Joint Assignment on Institutional Development of Gender machineries in Somalia. The International Secretariat for Human Development (ISHD), York University, Toronto, Canada in collaboration with El Centro Boliviano de Estudios Multidisciplinarios (CEBEM), La Paz, Bolivia are inviting submissions for a global inventory of women-led initiatives for social change. This project is supported by the International Development Research Centre (IDRC), Canada. The purpose of this inventory is to contribute to wider dissemination of women-led development experiences and to integrate them into development-related curricula, research, practice, and policy advice. Deadline for submissions: March 31, 2010.

The Disability Rights Fund (DRF) - a grantmaking collaborative between donors and the global disability community which supports the human rights of persons with disabilities-today announced its first 2010 grants round, “Moving Rights Forward.” Grantmaking in this round will be targeted to disabled persons’ organizations (DPOs) in three countries where DRF is currently working, Mexico, Ukraine, & selected states in India, as well as one new country, Indonesia. The deadline for Small Grants applications is March 29, 2010; the deadline for National Coalition Grants applications is April 12, 2010.
