Social Work Advisor

JOB DESCRIPTION:
Capacity Building:
The Social Work Advisor is responsible for developing and administering Hagar’s capacity building program for the shelter facilities managed by Hagar’s primary partner in Ha Noi, the Center for Women and Development (CWD).The Social Work Advisor should:
- Conduct trainings for CWD social work, case work, and other shelter personnel regarding fundamentals of social work profession, including counseling,crisis intervention, case management, and psychosocial assessment;
- Support the CWD in developing standard operating procedures (SOPs) for the CWD trafficking and domestic violence shelters in Ha Noi;
- Provide or facilitate trainings related to the dynamics of domestic violence, sex trafficking, gender based violence, community reintegration, andtrauma recovery;
- Support CWD management team with on-site supervision, feedback and technical support for CWD social workers within the CWD trafficking and domestic violence shelters;
- Facilitate and/or directly provide community-wide trainings for NGO and government organizations addressing gender based violence and human trafficking.
Assessment and Referral:
The Social Work Advisor should provide technical support to Hagar’s social workers, CWD social workers, and additional staff within Hagar’s partner organizations in psychosocial and job readiness assessment of prospective Hagar clients, along with ongoing assessment following job placement within a Hagar social enterprise.
- Develop mechanism for gaining referrals and solicit beneficiary referrals from Hagar’s social organization network and conduct assessments of referred clients in collaboration with relevant social organization network partners;
- Equip Hagar, CWD and partner social workers with technical input regarding psychosocial and job readiness assessment of all prospective Hagar clients;
- Develop guidelines and support Hagar, CWD and partner social workers with final selection of beneficiaries for Hagar’s programs.
Career Path Development and Job Readiness:
The Social Work Advisor is responsiblefor supervising a team of Hagar social workers in facilitating the career pathdevelopment and job readiness of Hagar clients.
- Provide technical support to Hagar social workers and CWD social workers in provision of a comprehensive job readiness program for Hagar clients, including job ready soft skills, literacy and vocational training;
- Ensure adequate vocational training and non-formal education in preparation for employment within Hagar’s social enterprise(s), as per training requirements and standards established by social enterprise partners;
- Support Hagar and CWD social workers in generating professional development plans and career path plans with Hagar clients;
- Support Hagar social workers and JOMA HR department in facilitating career development workshops and additional professional development activities for Hagar beneficiary employees and interns pre- and post-employment.
Job Placement and Community-Based Support:
The Social Work Advisor is responsiblefor coordinating with Hagar social enterprises regarding job placements for Hagarclients and ensuring the provision of sufficient social work supportpost-reintegration.
- Supervise Hagar social workers in coordinating with Hagar social enterprise(s) regarding job placements for Hagar clients;
- Oversee establishment of Employee Assistance Program (EAP) for beneficiary employees within Hagar’s social enterprise and ensure the provision of high quality social work services therein;
- Administer program for long-term community-based social work support for survivors of human trafficking and other vulnerable women involved in Hagar’s programs, addressing transitional housing, child care, case management, and other concerns critical to successful community reintegration.
Development of Social Organization Network:
The Social Work Advisor is responsiblefor developing a network of social organizations to provide supportive services toHagar beneficiaries, including vocational training, non-formal and formal education,counseling, life skills education, medical care, child care services, and financialplanning, as determined necessary. To do so, the Social Work Advisor must:
- Identify social organizations providing the above mentioned services in the Ha Noi , Ho Chi Minh City, and other locations of future activity in Vietnam;
- Develop and maintain working relationships with Hagar’s partners, and develop strong collaborative relationships with stakeholders in NGO and government sectors;
- Develop and manage agreements with additional third-party partners for the provision of services to Hagar and CWD clients;
- Formulate contracts outlining the terms of services provided by Hagar’s social organization partners, and ensure compliance to terms of contracts.
REPORTING:
The Social Work Advisor reports directly to the Director of Hagar Vietnam. During the first year of operations, two social workers will report directly to the Social Work Advisor.
LOCATION: Hanoi, Vietnam with travel to Ho Chi Minh City and additional sites of future social enterprise activity in Vietnam.
