For the past 15 years, the call for consideration of violence against women as a human rights issue has served as a platform for advocacy within the women's movement.
The message of women's rights as human rights transcended many boundaries of region, language, culture, identity and political thought. Now the movement finds itself at a juncture where it must decide whether there is a new "big ask" for advancing work on violence against women.
