Welcome to AWID! The Association for Women's Rights in Development (AWID) is an international, multi-generational, feminist, creative, future-orientated membership organization committed to achieving gender equality, sustainable development and women's human rights.
Increasingly diverse and global-minded in our staffing, AWID staff work out of our Toronto, Cape Town or Mexico City offices, while our translators, moderators of our e-newsletters and other staff are located everywhere from Lomé to Rosario and from Shanghai to Bangalore.
AWID’s board members are drawn from a diverse constituency of policy makers, academics, researchers, activists, funders, practitioners, and business people committed to gender equality, mostly from the global South.
AWID’s work is structured through multi-year programs known as Strategic Initiatives. Each strategic initiative includes a range of activities from membership consultations and surveys, primary research and dialogues with policy makers (including targeted advocacy) to capacity building institutes, regional networking and information dissemination.
A dynamic network of women and men around the world, AWID members are researchers, academics, students, educators, activists, business people, policy-makers, development practitioners, funders, and more – of every age and profession – making AWID a unique global feminist association of both women and men.
