Institutional Member: Asociatia pentru Libertate si Egalitate de Gen - The Association for Gender Equality and Liberty

A.L.E.G. is a Romanian nongovernmental organization active since 2004 in promoting gender equality and struggling to end gender-based violence. Their acronym means “I choose” in Romanian. The name reflects on one of A.L.E.G.'s core values: that men and women should be able to choose their role in family and society free from prejudices. In its awareness and education activities, A.L.E.G. involves both men and women in the process of eliminating violence and discrimination. A.L.E.G. also provides support to survivors of domestic violence, human trafficking and sexual abuse. In Europe, A.L.E.G. promotes advocacy initiatives and acts as focal point for the Coordinating Committee of WAVE network (Women Against Violence Europe).A.L.E.G has been an AWID member since 2010.
