Institutional Member: Urgent Action Fund of Latin America

Urgent Action Fund

Urgent Action Fund of Latin America and the Spanish Speaking Caribbean for Women’s Human Rights (UAF-LA) is a feminist organization defending the Human Rights of the diversity of women on the continent. It was founded in August, 2009 in Bogotá, Colombia.

The fund mobilizes resources through Rapid Response Grant Making (RRG) and collaborative initiatives. RRG is at the heart of the Urgent Action Fund and responds to women´s needs at crucial and strategic moments and/or when unanticipated opportunity or an unexpected threat requires immediate attention to be effective. The program works 365 days a year, and usually within a maximum of seven days.

In order to learn from the experience of hundreds of activists and their organizations who have been Rapid Response Grantees, UAF-LA coordinates a program of Systematization/Evaluation of Grant-Making, by looking at specific themes on an annual basis.

UAF-LA´s program to promote Sustainable Activism involves a series of conversations, exchanges, accompaniment, and sharing of processed information so that together we can imagine ways of living and working as committed and healthy Human Rights activists. UAF-LA dreams of a continent where conflicts are transformed peacefully; a continent that is safe, just and sustainable, and that guarantees human rights based on feminist principles.
