About This Initiative
Recognizing that financial resources are often necessary to make change happen and that many women’s rights organizations are significantly under-funded, AWID launched the WITM initiative in 2005 to increase the amount and quality of funding for women’s rights work.
The initiative aims to build in-depth knowledge on resources mobilization and to increase the effectiveness of women’s rights groups in raising and accessing funds, as well as influence donor agencies to commit more and better funding for women’s rights and gender equality.
The WITM team conducts research about the latest resource mobilization trends, both among funding agencies and women’s organizations. The findings are disseminated through a variety of resource materials such as reports and fact sheets, as well as the FundHer newsletter.
The team also convenes regional strategy meetings between women’s rights organizations and donors, enabling face-to-face dialogue about funding challenges and opportunities.
Through advocacy work and alliance-building, the WITM team strives to influence the policies and practices of donors in different funding sectors worldwide.
