Silence Speaks Digital Storytelling: From Healing To Action In Support Of Global Gender Justice
This session presented powerful and evocative potential of the Digital Storytelling Methodology in producing personal narratives especially among survivors and witnesses of gender based violence and other forms of trauma.
Representatives from Silence Speaks, an international organization on digital storytelling initiative, provided a brief orientation featuring some examples of digital stories and various recommendations on its practice.
Participants learned more about the organization and its experiences on Digital Storytelling practice which including workshop practices/techniques, case studies covering the perspectives of the storytellers (Jules, Thoko and Katherine), ethical issues and practical considerations in making digital stories. The speaker also engage the participants in strategy sessions to allow them to experience the digital storytelling process as well as explore its potential for movement building worldwide. Overall, it was a very engaging and interesting session.
