AWID MEMBERSHIP

Change doesn’t just happen. We collectively make it happen.

Our members have been a key enabling force, working collectively with AWID to advance the rights of women and girls around the world. A dynamic network of women and men around the world, AWID members are researchers, academics, students, educators, activists, business people, policy-makers, development practitioners, funders, and more – of every age and profession – making AWID a unique global feminist association of both women and men.

AWID members share the understanding that women’s rights are not only necessary in and of themselves, but are central to ending the challenges the world faces today such as poverty, building peace and HIV and AIDS. AWID has over 5,000 members of which more than 300 are institutional members. Our members come from more than 130 countries of the world with the majority based in the global south and Central and Eastern Europe. A third of our members are young women.

We are currently in the process of revising our membership strategy and outreach efforts in order to better engage our members and fortify our efforts to collectively advance women’s rights around the world. AWID seeks to create vibrant spaces for networking, and facilitate the search for meaningful analyses and solutions to challenges faced in advancing women’s human rights.

By becoming a member of AWID, you are joining a movement that seeks to advance the rights of women around the world as you connect with other individuals and organizations that are committed to building our collective voice, power and influence in achieving full equality of women and human rights of all people.

AWID members are of two kinds: institutional members and individual members.

If you represent an organization, sign up for institutional membership -- as an institutional member, you receive all the membership benefits of individual members, plus access to special services, including:

• copies of each AWID publication (quarterly mailings throughout the year)
• a quarterly membership e-newsletter keeping you up to date on AWID news and events
• mailings of books and videos
• discounts on bulk publication orders including available booklets and Forum papers
• reduced rates for you to send 4 staff or board members to the AWID International Forum
• a link to your organization from the AWID website
• automatic e-mailing of our annual activity review
• a free link to your organization listed on the AWID website

As an individual member of AWID, you will receive:

• discounted member rates to attend the Forum
• free copies of new AWID publications
• the opportunity to share your announcements and reports with members and others by contributing to our website
• the opportunity to make links with over 5,000 diverse women and organizations working towards women’s rights and sustainable development around the world
