Women for Change

Every week we profile a different institutional AWID member. If you would like to be profiled here, please send your biographical information to membership@awid.org

Women for a Change (WFAC) Buea is a non-profit, local, and voluntary young women’s group with the central office situated in Buea, southwest region of Cameroon. WFAC is a Safeworld Field Partner. The organization was founded in 2009 as a response to the need to promote and protect Cameroonian young women’s human rights and to support, connect and encourage women to work together in creating a caring community that cuts across gender barriers and constraints. WFAC aims to strengthen women’s and girls’ rights through education, campaigns and entrepreneurial leadership.  All of these efforts are geared towards eradicating sexual gender-based violence, human rights abuses, poverty, and to enable women to enjoy freedom of information, love and compassion. Through its training seminars, leadership discussions, and HIV and gender advocacy programs, the group has successfully reached out to thousands of young people in the community (as well as online global/local audience). WFAC envisions a community in which young women are confident to lead for change. To find out more about WFAC, please click here and/or visit their Facebook page.
