Every two weeks we profile a different institutional AWID member. If you would like to be profiled here, please send your biographical information to membership@awid.org
Make Every Woman Count (MEWC) was founded in December 2010, two months after the launch of the African Women’s Decade. MEWC is a young women-led organisation committed to promoting and advocating for the empowerment and rights of African women and girls. The organisation also monitors and raises awareness of the African Women’s Decade. It aims to provide timely and accurate information, resources and tools to support and strengthen the work of African women’s rights advocates and grassroots activists in order to promote the participation of women and girls in all areas of social, political and economic development. MEWC also works on inspiring and supporting young women to become part of the future generation of African leaders. The organization envisions a world where women's rights have been achieved so that women can participate and influence decisions affecting their lives and fully contribute to the development of the African continent.
