Ankuram Woman & Child Development Society was founded in 1994 in Andhra Pradesh, India. Ankuram envisions a world where women and girls have possibilities to fulfill their dreams free from constraints of discrimination, inequality and poverty. Ankuram works towards building a world with an economic system based on social and economic justice, solidarity and respect, rather than competition and exploitation. Ankuram creates spaces for children, women and marginalized communities, helping them to network in order to strengthen their knowledge base, work on their capacity building and increase their skills in a holistic manner. Because young girls often face many challenges Ankuram aims to focus on the protection girl-children and the promotion of their rights such as access to formal schooling, reproductive health education, rehabilitative shelter care services and vocational skills leading to income generating activities.
