Currently Sofia leads a program for community development in gender socialization for policy makers, teachers, families and village dwellers. The main purpose of this program is to increase awareness regarding gender equity. For example, at the family level, the hope is that regardless of gender parents will give the same educational opportunities to their children. Sofia believes that education is very important for girls since it has immediate impact on their well-being and future generations. She sees the positive impact in reduction of early marriage through increased access to education for girls. Sofia envisions a day when all women in her country will have access to quality education.
